There is no such expression as “From the Gecko.” I have used this wrongly worded phrase my entire adult life. I’d make such remarks as, “That was doomed to fail, from the gecko,” or “They seemed perfect for each other, from the gecko.” For over 30 years, I made these comments out loud, to multiple people. Why didn’t anybody ever correct me? Or did everybody else also think a lizard was involved?
It wasn’t until about a year ago, a friend finally said, “You know, it’s not, from the gecko; it’s from the get-go.”
“From the get-go,” I nodded, digesting this new information. “Like it happened from the very beginning.”
Yeah, that made more sense.
